louise renae anderson creates outstanding hand woven textiles and shows great skill in using processes and techniques involving traditional methods of dyeing and weaving. she works with natural materials combined with a contemporary approach to design.

Louise was born in New Zealand and studied fashion design before moving to the UK. She continued her studies and completed both her BA and MA in textiles at UCA, Farnham, Surrey. On graduation she was awarded the Selvedge Award, the Melin Tregwynt Promising Talent Award and was also nominated for The Worshipful Weavers Associate Prize. She has since set up her own studio and has exhibited in numerous exhibitions including the 2013 'Insight into Beauty' at The Japanese Embassy, London and 'Select 2013' The Stroud International Textiles show.

Her creative design uses the breakdown of regular the pattern into irregularity, and the beauty of imperfection to create calm contemplative pieces. She sees the repetitive, rhythmical nature of hand weaving as a form of meditation and escape from today's fast-paced society. Louise has a clear ethos of incorporating the traditional with the contemporary. She works in hand dyed  and hand weaves in fine cotton and Irish linen on a traditional loom. She designs work to draw people in with detailing that is interesting at varied distances.
